All Aboard the Ada Express: Türkiye's Game-Changing Electric Train is Ready to Roll

In an extraordinary achievement, Türkiye's very own indigenous electric train has officially started its passenger service. After three years of dedicated effort, the Turkey Wagon Industry Corporation (TUVASAS) has brought to life a train that surpasses imported models in cost-effectiveness while showcasing Türkiye's prowess in domestic production. The Türkiye Rail System Vehicles Industry AŞ (TÜRASAŞ) successfully manufactured this groundbreaking electric train.

Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic in 2020, TUVASAS personnel worked tirelessly, and the train has now entered the testing phase. This indigenous train, which has a 20% lower production cost than imported models, demonstrates Türkiye’s commitment to domestic production. The prototype achieved 60% domestic production, with plans to increase to 80% during mass production, propelling Türkiye to the forefront of the railway systems sector.

Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu emphasized TUVASAS' transformation into the largest railway system producer in the Middle East. This milestone sets the stage for Türkiye to become an important railway production hub. The Ada Express, Turkey's indigenous electric train, is now operating its first passenger service. It travels the scenic Adapazar-Gebze route, stopping at 11 locations and providing an unforgettable travel experience.

Minister Karaismailoğlu proudly announced the commencement of passenger operations, with the Ada Express departing from Adapazarı. Operating at 160 kilometers per hour, the Turkish-made electric train ensures swift travel. Its flexibility allows configurations of 3, 4, 5, or 6 vehicles, accommodating regional and intercity travel. In its 5-vehicle configuration, the train comfortably seats up to 324 passengers.

The Ada Express holds the prestigious TSI (Technical Specifications for Interoperability) certificate, facilitating seamless operation within Türkiye and European Union countries. Passenger comfort is a priority, with onboard amenities including tea, coffee, and refreshing cold drinks available for purchase.

In the wake of Türkiye's inaugural electric train, a locomotive revolution is ignited, promising a vivid resurgence of splendor within the nation's railway landscape. With each resolute chug along the tracks, the Ada Express propels Türkiye further into a future steeped in railway eminence, leaving an indelible imprint upon the annals of history.
